Exploring some alternatives
I've been looking at ways to have the IRB software control more than just the Kenwood TS-2000, TS-480, and TS-570 radios. I may be able to alter Stan's software to use an intermediate program as the interface between the radio and the IRB software. This would let the IRB software control any radios that the intermediate program could control.
Stan's IRB software does an excellent job of dealing with the extras needed to handle more than one user and the privs and restrictions that MUST be enforced in a multi-user environment. I'm not immediately aware of any other software that does what Stan's does for a group of hams using the same radio. All of the other software I've seen so far does not adress more than a single individual using the single radio all of the time. There just isn't any way to share the radio.
I may try to test this out by coming up with a version of the W4MQ software that's intended for recieve only duty using a few SW receivers. They're much easier to deal with when trying to prove out a concept like this.
I haven't been getting much feedback and I'd appreciate some comments on this and other matters concerning the IRB software before things get too far under way in working on it. I've got to get a better feel for what you, the users of the software, want not what I think it should have.

Cotroling "Other" radios.
You could do worse, than look at the OnmiRig system, by Alex VE3NEA.
All you need to do, is interface with that (well documented, and Alex is reachable) and let it handle the radio IO.
It is also posible (even encorgaged) for users to create custom drivers for any unsuported radios, making things very flexible.
