After much hair puling I've decided to simply shut down the N2JEU remote. The RF problems are not easily resolved and there is little money to make the necessary changes to potentially fix them.

There are those of you that would probably be willing donate to help out but I am not in a position to accept donations. With donations comes the expectation on the part of the users that a certain level of availability will be maintained. After all, "if I paid to use it it had better be available." Since there is no way that I can guarantee a reasonable level of service I will NOT accept donations for the use of the remote.

I've run a remote controlled receiver on the Internet since 1997 so I am well aware of user expectations when it comes to something like this. I've recently been forced to shut down the receiver since users were fighting each other for control of the receiver. Unlike the IRB setup there was no need for a login name and password since there was no ability to transmit. This plus the problems with RF on the IRB setup has left me in a rather bad mood as far as running open services like these on the Internet.

As a result, I think I'm going to take a bit of a vacation from both the IRB and the receiver projects and see what happens in a few weeks or months from now.

Since I run the web site where the W4MQ software is available that will remain in operation and as time permits I'll continue to try to work on the software. I also provide the audio streaming for the Hurricane Watch Net and other services at times so the receiver won't be going away, just the ability of users to remotely control it. I may create a utility to tune the reveicer to a schedule so that there may be audio available but I'm still not certain on that part.
